Purpose of the position
The CNC Intern will gain hands-on learning experience in the operation and performance of CNC cutting machines. The intern will be responsible for studying the CNC process, understanding machine parameters, and developing a detailed capacity analysis file that will help the company measure and optimize CNC machine utilization and output.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Learn and understand the basic operation of CNC cutting machines.
- Observe and document CNC cutting cycles, material types, part complexity, and setup times.
- Collect machine data including cutting speeds, downtime, and run times.
- Tabulate, organize, and maintain records for capacity analysis.
- Assist the fabrication team in identifying improvement areas in machine scheduling and utilization.
- Prepare and present a CNC capacity analysis file summarizing machine capacity, utilization rates, and potential bottlenecks.
- Comply with safety guidelines and shop floor protocols at all times.
- Engage with machine operators and production staff to gather practical insights.
