Casual Electrical Technician Level 1

As a Casual Electrical Technician, you’ll perform all of the scheduled preventative maintenance, general repairs, and urgent corrective maintenance repairs across the entire fleet of Terminal equipment.

What are your key responsibilities:

  • Execute Maintenance & Repairs: Perform electrical and mechanical fault finding, emergency corrective repairs, and general repair work on Straddle Carriers. 

  • Preventative Servicing: Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) servicing in strict accordance with provided schedules.

  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all work is completed efficiently, timely, and in full compliance with company Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental (OHS&E) regulations.

  • Administration & Professionalism: Accurately complete all necessary paperwork on time and maintain a professional demeanor when representing the company to meet client expectations.

  • Work Environment & Autonomy: Maintain a clean and tidy workspace, keep company tools and equipment in good condition, and demonstrate the ability to work effectively and independently.

What you bring to the role:

  • Essential Qualification: Must possess an Australian or recognized Electrical trade qualification.
  • Specialized Experience: Several years of post-apprenticeship experience is required, specializing in fault finding, repairs, and preventative maintenance (PM) service on heavy plant (e.g., container handling equipment, heavy forklifts, mining/marine equipment).
  • Technical Knowledge: Demonstrated working knowledge of PLC systems (e.g., Siemens S7), AC & DC drives, electrical schematics, AC/DC motors, and essential heavy plant systems like hydraulics, electronics, and/or diesel engines.
  • Licenses & Preferences: Possession of a Forklift Operator's license and/or an Elevated Work Platform license is highly preferred.
  • Key Soft Skills & Competencies: Strong analytical, numeracy, and time management skills, coupled with excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and customer-facing skills; must be a dedicated team player with an excellent work ethic.
