Perform corrective maintenance repairs, general repair work and preventative maintenance on all Terminal equipment.

Main tasks and responsibilities
Workshop Duties
-
Carry out fault finding and emergency breakdown repairs on Straddle Carriers, Reach Stackers, Forklift trucks, Quay cranes and ancillary equipment.

Carry out fault finding and general repair work on Straddle Carriers, Reach Stackers, Forklift trucks, Quay cranes and ancillary equipment.

Carry out PM servicing as required in compliance with PM schedules provided.

Ensure all repair and service work is carried out in an efficient and timely manner.
-
Ability to work independently and without direct supervision.

Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with company OHS&E regulations.
Cleanliness
-
Ensure the working area is kept in a clean and tidy condition.

Ensure that tools and equipment supplied by the company are kept clean and in good condition.
Administration
-
Complete all relevant paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
Other
-
Represent the company in a professional manner to meet the client’s expectations.

Other tasks as directed by Site Supervisor.
What you’ll need to succeed
Required
-
Australian or recognized Mechanical trade qualification.
-
Minimum completion of year 10.
Preferred
-
Disconnect Reconnect restricted electrical license.
-
Forklift operator’s license.
-
Elevated work platform license.
-
Knowledge of the current ports mechanical and electrical crane control systems.
-
Demonstrate knowledge in the operation of mechanical boom and cable equipment to troubleshoot machine problems and evaluates correctness and completeness of repairs that have been done on the machine.

Understanding of the crane operations and inspects associated machines or heavy equipment in order to diagnose defects.
-
Examines Parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges. Reads, understands and interprets operating manuals, parts manuals and technical drawings.
Experience
-
Minimum 10 years post apprenticeship experience: specializing in fault finding, repairs and PM service on heavy plant. E.g. earth moving equipment, heavy duty forklift trucks, container handling equipment, mining equipment, marine equipment, generating sets, electrics forklifts etc.
Skills & Knowledge
-
Strong knowledge of hydraulics, electronics and/or diesel engines.

Basic to intermediate skills using Microsoft Windows Applications / DOS based programs.

Customer relationship skills.

Strong analytical and numeracy skills.

Effective time management skills.
-
Sound communication skills (written and verbal).
-
Knowledge of the mechanical handling, port or industrial operations industry sector.
