As a Site Manager, you’ll lead the maintenance team at Port Botany, driving both daily operational excellence and strategic continuous improvement across all maintenance practices. You will be responsible for delivering the maintenance plan, meeting strict contract KPIs, and upholding the highest standards of safety and environmental policy. Success in this role requires managing the site budget while maintaining accountability for service revenue generation and profitability.

 

What are your key responsibilities:

  • Lead Daily Operations & Strategy: Directly oversee all daily maintenance activities, driving process improvement, resource planning, and strategic alignment to meet organizational goals and "best practice" standards.
  • Deliver KPI & Profitability Targets: Maximize performance against customer contract KPIs and ensure the profitability of the site through efficient operations, budget management, and effective asset control.
  • Drive Safety & Compliance: Champion a safe working environment by enforcing all OH&S policies, conducting regular safety walks, ensuring staff compliance, and immediately logging all incidents.
  • Manage Team & Development: Plan team resource allocation, delegate tasks, manage rosters for full customer coverage, and actively develop the technical workforce through structured training programs.
  • Ensure Customer & Internal Communication: Act as the primary liaison with the client, while facilitating strong coordination and communication between all internal Kalmar departments to ensure timely and professional service support.

What you bring to the role: 

  • Qualifications: Possess an Engineering Degree or relevant Trades Certificate combined with several years of maintenance experience, in a similar supervisory role.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Proven experience in managing shift teams and working effectively within a Unionized workforce, demonstrating strong leadership and team player skills.
  • Communication & Influence: Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to think strategically and effectively influence and negotiate with diverse audiences at various levels.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep, specialized knowledge of cranes and automation, along with a strong understanding of commercial acumen and customer business needs.
  • Problem-Solving: Must be an analytical, creative problem-solver with a demonstrated ability to handle multiple assignments, manage conflicting priorities, and meet critical deadlines.
