As a Technical Supervisor Maintenance Operations - Port Botany, you’ll supervise all onsite maintenance operations and personnel to ensure work is executed safely and the annual maintenance plan is achieved efficiently. Your primary responsibility will be the efficient allocation of labor to tasks while managing both team and individual performance. You will be accountable for meeting and exceeding Patrick's Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and developing the overall skill set of the Kalmar team.

 

What are your key responsibilities:

  • Lead Safety & QEHS Compliance: Ensure the safety of all site personnel and actively manage compliance with all company and client (Patrick/Cargotec) QEHS policies, procedures, and regulations across all maintenance and operational areas.
  • Maintenance & Efficiency Oversight: Ensure all preventative and breakdown maintenance is completed on time, is up-to-date, and performed efficiently to maximize equipment availability and fully comply with the Patrick site maintenance agreement.
  • Personnel & Resource Management: Directly supervise the technical team, manage team and individual performance, and ensure the effective utilization and development of the technical workforce in line with business needs.
  • System & Budget Management: Ensure accurate and timely entry of all maintenance data into Maximo (Maintenance Management System), supervise stock control and asset utilization, and maintain strict compliance with the site service and operating budgets.
  • Reporting & Client Relations: Serve as the primary liaison with Patrick site representatives, providing regular and timely technical and personnel utilization reporting in line with site requirements.

What you bring to the role: 

  • Qualifications: Possess a Formal Trade Qualification (Fitter/Mechanical/Electrical) plus a Post Trade Qualification, supported by several years of supervisory experience in a heavy industry (Manufacturing, Mining, or Logistics) environment.
  • Operational & Industry Knowledge: Proven experience managing a technical service operation within the Port, Mechanical Handling, or Industrial Operations sectors, including familiarity with computer-based maintenance management systems.
  • Team Leadership & People Management: Exceptional people management skills with a proven ability to lead, motivate, mentor, and effectively handle performance management and industrial relationships.
  • Financial & Project Acumen: Strong financial understanding of budgets, capital expenditure, and cost control, coupled with proven skills in project management and spare parts inventory management.
  • Essential Competencies: Must possess strong negotiation and analytical skills, be customer-oriented, and demonstrate the ability to obtain an MSIC and maintain flexibility for shift and weekend work.
