Service Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced technician to join our team permanently. The successful candidate will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, and repair of heavy equipment used in ports, depots, and logistics operations. This role requires strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to providing top-tier customer service.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs on empty container handlers and reach stackers
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults to ensure efficient repair turnaround
- Conduct inspections and pre-emptive maintenance to minimize downtime and improve reliability
- Ensure customer uptime by providing timely and efficient service, minimising disruptions to operations
- Maintain clear and professional communication with customers regarding service status, technical issues, and repair timelines
- Document service and repair work, including parts used, time spent, and any additional recommendations
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations when working on-site.
What you’ll need to succeed
Qualifications & Experience
- Trade-tested technician (Diesel Mechanic, Auto Electrician, or related field)
- Proven experience in the heavy equipment industry, ideally working with reach stackers, empty container handlers, or similar port equipment
- Strong technical understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools
- Proficiency in using diagnostic software for fault-finding and troubleshooting
- A valid driver’s license (Code 08/Code 10 preferred)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a customer-first mindset.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Kalmar, Hyster, Taylor, or similar brands
- Familiarity with container handling environments, ports, and logistics operations
- Additional certifications in hydraulics, electrics, or diagnostics will be an advantage.
