Sourcing Sustainability Specialist

The main goal of this position is to support the Kalmar sourcing organisation transformation into a sustainable-focused and future-proof organisation, focusing on all areas of ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) and to support improvement toward Kalmar’s SBTi climate ambition to become a 1.5 degree company. In this role you will be addressing Kalmar’s supply chain and work as part of the sustainable sourcing team, Kalmar’s sustainability team and in conjunction with global category and division sourcing and supplier development.
The Sustainable Sourcing Specialist will be responsible for running the supplier engagement and supplier sustainability self-assessment programs on a daily basis including: quantitative analysis of supplier engagement data, preparing summaries and feedback towards suppliers, finding synergies, opportunities and data gaps and facilitating supplier workshops and coordinating communications towards suppliers.
You will also contribute to the strategy development to mitigate and improve Human Rights and other social risks in the supply chain, and follow up the development of sustainability-related legislation (e.g. CBAM, EU battery regulation, CSDDD) and drive related development projects to ensure compliance.
In order to succeed in this role, you are competent in data analysis, influencing and communications. Your presentation skills are proficient and you enjoy working in a complex environment. This position is a fit for a creative problem-solver, who enjoys challenges. You will be part of an international team based in Helsinki, but your colleagues are located globally.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Run the supplier sustainability engagement and self-assessment programs on a daily basis
- Analyse the supplier engagement data: calculate more accurate emissions, find synergies, data gaps, improvement opportunities, monitor and follow-up of suppliers that have not provided data
- Build and maintain the energy & material emissions master data and align this with the data team
- Follow up the development of sustainability-related legislation (e.g. CBAM, EU battery regulation, CSDDD) and drive related development projects to ensure compliance
- Contribute to the development of a strategy to mitigate and improve Human Rights and other social risks in the supply chain, through supplier risk management and compliance activities
- Organise and facilitate decarbonisation opportunity workshops with the suppliers and responsible sourcing community and contribute to the development of supplier decarbonisation roadmaps and action tracker with all actions with all suppliers part of the supplier engagement
- Support different divisions and functions in their sustainability initiatives, related e.g. to greenhouse gas emission reduction, social responsibility and compliance in the supply chain.
What you’ll need to succeed
Education:
- MSc Degree in Sustainability, Business administration, Supply Chain, Economics, or similar.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in Sourcing Sustainability
- Experience of hands-on Continuous Improvements, preferably within Ethics, Compliance and Sustainability
- Experiences of performing Quality, Environmental and Sustainability supplier audits.
Competencies:
- Knowledge of supply chain practices and emissions calculation (GHG Protocol)
- Knowledge of applicable legal requirements regarding responsible sourcing (e.g. EU Green Deal, CBAM, Batteries regulation)
- Strong communication skills with various stakeholders with both technical and business backgrounds
- Understanding of international business operations
- Strong analytical abilities with a focus on finding synergies and improvements
- Solid understanding of best practices of reporting and data visualisation practices
- Team player with a can-do attitude
- Readiness to suggest improvements and put forward new ideas
- Fluent in English written and spoken.
