Trade Assistant

To assist in service repair work, machine cleaning and parts storage.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- To assist mechanical and electrical trade qualified mechanics in service and repair work
- Steam clean machinery prior to PM Service
- Assist Site Administrator in restocking store and parts picking
- Ensure the working area is kept in a clean and tidy condition
- Other tasks as directed by Leading Hand or Site Supervisor
What you’ll need to succeed
Education
- Minimum completion of year 10, literacy in English language written and oral
Experience
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Experience in a mechanical repair environment. E.g. earth moving equipment, heavy duty forklift trucks, container handling equipment, mining equipment, marine equipment, generating sets, electrics forklifts etc
Skills & Knowledge
- Basic knowledge of hydraulics, electronics and/or diesel engines
- Customer relationship skills
- Strong analytical and numeracy skills
- Effective time management skills
- Sound communication skills (written and verbal)
- Excellent interpersonal skills (ability to deal with all stakeholders in the business)
- Knowledge of the mechanical handling, port or industrial operations industry sector
