Advanced Systems Prototype Buyer/Planner

Purpose of the position

 

The Advanced Systems and Project Buyer is a key procurement role within TT Sourcing, responsible for supporting the development of prototype machines at our Ottawa Prototype Center. This position requires a blend of project management, tactical purchasing expertise and strategic sourcing capabilities. This position will manage the full procurement lifecycle for prototype components, ensure timely delivery and adherence to specifications, and cultivate strong relationships with suppliers to optimize performance and drive value.

Main tasks and responsibilities

 

 

Prototype Component Procurement:

 

Manage the end-to-end procurement process for components required for prototype machine builds, including:

Requirements gathering in collaboration with project teams

Working with category sourcing team on new parts sourcing

Request for Quotation (RFQ) preparation and analysis

Purchase order creation and management

Order tracking, follow up and issue resolution

Delivery coordination

Source components considering technical specifications, quality standards, delivery timelines, and budget constraints.

Evaluate and develop new and existing suppliers, including prototype suppliers, for potential use in future production.

Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., Engineering, Quality, Logistics) to align supplier activities with business needs.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers.

 

Planning Prototype components:

 

To support planning activities for projects that require prototype assembly of full machine or sub-systems executed in Ottawa Kansas including item/BOM management, part routings, and indirect material tracking.

Follow-up of production orders and item availability during the prototype assembly

planning and execution phase.

Manage and improve logistics for prototype assembly, to/from protoshop and inside

Protoshop.

To manage and maintain top level E-BOMs and sub level E-BOMs from a R&D

perspective in LN, for configuration and forecasting point of view.

Plan and perform your own activities according to specified requirements and time schedule.

Responsibility for regularly reporting to the involved stakeholders regarding outcome and

possible deviations.

To contribute and propose improvements for efficient working processes.

To be a liaison between Sourcing, R & D departments and Production.

What you’ll need to succeed

 

Education:

 

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.

 

Qualifications:

 

Minimum [3+] years of experience in a purchasing/procurement role within a manufacturing/engineering environment.

Strong knowledge of the complete order-to-delivery process.

Sourcing experience, including supplier identification, evaluation, and negotiation.

Experience in procuring technical components is highly desirable.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Office Suite.

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.

Fluency in English is required.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Experience working with prototype development.

Experience in a global sourcing environment.

Experience in project management
