Are you a seasoned finance leader ready to drive strategic growth and ensure operational excellence? Kalmar is seeking a dynamic Business Controller to lead all accounting, reporting, and financial strategy for our vital UK and Ireland markets. This is your chance to be a key decision-maker, partnering directly with sales and service to fuel our success.

 

This role operates on a hybrid work model, ideal for candidates living within commuting distance of our Shrewsbury office.

What are your key responsibilities:

 

  • Strategic Financial Partnership: Act as a core finance business partner to the Country Director and Management Team, deeply integrating finance into all business operations and strategic decision-making for UK & Ireland.
  • Performance Reporting & Analysis: Provide critical financial information, business reviews, and analyses to the Country Management Team, driving accurate forecasting, budgeting, and planning, while challenging performance for optimal results.
  • Lead Financial Planning & Estimates: Drive the preparation of financial plans, future business estimates, budgets, and overall financial strategy, ensuring alignment with Kalmar's targets and guidelines.
  • Country Management Team Membership: Serve as an active member of the country management team, taking full responsibility for the finance function and contributing to overall business direction.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, manage, and coach finance team members, overseeing performance reviews, talent identification, and succession planning.
  • Ensure Operational & Policy Compliance: Implement and ensure adherence to all Group, division, and local financial policies, procedures, and tools, guaranteeing high-quality support and robust controls across sales and service administration.

What you bring to the role:

 

  • Expert Financial Acumen: You are a fully qualified accountant (ACA/ ACCA/CIMA) with a strong grasp of business controlling, financial reporting, processes, and systems, ready to apply your deep financial expertise.

  • Extensive Global Experience: You bring 5+ years of high-level business controlling or demanding financial roles, ideally within a global business environment, demonstrating your capability in complex financial landscapes.

  • Continuous Improvement Driver: Proven experience in driving continuous financial process improvements ensures you're committed to enhancing efficiency, quality, and harmonization in a dynamic setting.

  • Advanced Analytical & System Skills: Highly proficient with finance tools like Oracle, Hyperion (HFM), Excel, and SAP, you possess strong analytical and organizational skills to provide insightful reporting and robust controls.

  • Strategic Business Partner: With exceptional business acumen, results orientation, and influencing skills, you're adept at partnering with stakeholders, communicating effectively, and challenging performance to achieve strategic goals.
