Logistics Improvement Engineer

Purpose of the position

We are creating a new role at Kalmar: Logistics Improvement Engineer. The goal is to make our logistics processes faster, leaner, and smarter. You’ll work with data, people, and technology to cut waste, improve material flow, and set new standards for efficiency on the shop floor. This position is based in Stargard, with work carried out on-site.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Map and improve logistics processes – from unloading ramps to assembly lines.
  • Identify waste and design smarter ways of working (routes, layouts, picking, storage).
  • Build dashboards and KPIs to track and improve logistics performance.
  • Lead optimization projects (e.g. warehouse layouts, material flows, packaging methods).
  • Support implementation of new solutions such as WMS, AGVs, or pick-by-light systems.
  • Write clear standards and train teams to adopt new ways of working.
  • Run Kaizen workshops with operators and leaders.
  • Collaborate closely with production, warehouse, sourcing, shipping, and planning teams.

What Success Looks Like (6–12 months)

  • Delivery of concrete results through implemented solutions.
  • Improved efficiency and reduced waste in internal logistics processes.
  • Strong collaboration and engagement with warehouse, production, and cross-functional teams.
  • Clear KPI structure in place for logistics areas, supporting data-driven decisions.

What you’ll need to succeed

Must-have:

  • Technical degree in logistics, production engineering, automation, or similar.

  • 3–5 years of experience in a modern production environment (automotive, machinery, appliances).

  • Hands-on Lean experience (VSM, 5S, Kanban, standardization).

  • Strong English skills (B2+).

  • Advanced data skills: SQL, Google BigQuery, Google Sheets, Looker Studio.

  • Experience with ERP/WMS (SAP is a plus).

  • Strong communication, proactive mindset, and ability to lead projects.

Nice-to-have:

    • Experience with simulation tools (AnyLogic, FlexSim).

    • Lean Six Sigma / PMP / PRINCE2 certifications.

    • Practical exposure to logistics automation.

    • Assertive character and ability to challenge the status quo.
