Product Engineer

Purpose of the position

The Product Engineer is responsible for the development of a dedicated product or product group within Mobile Equipment. This role ensures effective collaboration between the Manufacturing Assembly Unit (MAU) and the R&D department. The Product Engineer provides technical support to departments such as Production, Purchasing, Quality, and Suppliers, focusing on design requirements, specifications, documentation, and software. Key responsibilities include managing technical documentation, implementing technical corrections under the supervision of the responsible Chief Engineer, and contributing to customer engineering (CE) projects.

Main tasks and responsibilities

Technical Support:

• Serve as the first R&D point of contact for MAU regarding technical issues related to the product.

• Provide technical support in coordination with the Chief Engineer or R&D representative for product design elements, assemblies, finished goods, and software requirements and documentation.

• Resolve technical problems affecting machine functionality within documentation scope.

Product Development / Product Group Development:

• Design options compliant with customer requirements (Customer Engineering) in electrical and software areas.

• Design and modify component parts and software throughout the product lifecycle (Product Care).

• Validate and test product options and functionalities based on R&D tasks and needs.

• Improve documentation and implement technical enhancements per specifications.

Knowledge and Competence Management:

• Build and manage a knowledge base for the assigned area.

• Ensure effective knowledge sharing within and outside the MAU.

• Maintain and develop competencies in line with product and technology requirements.

What you’ll need to succeed

Essential Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.

• Experience: Internship, placement, or work experience in a manufacturing or engineering company in a similar role.

• Skills:

  • Communicative level of English.

  • Understanding of hydraulic systems, ability to read technical drawings and electrical schematics.

  • Basic knowledge of PLC programming.

  • Proficiency in MS Office.

  • Strong teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or a related field.

• Experience: 3 years of experience as a Product Engineer or Machine & Equipment Designer.

• Skills:

  • Proficiency with CAD software.

  • Excellent English (CAE or equivalent level).

  • In-depth knowledge of control systems, automation, electrical and hydraulic systems.

  • Proficiency with 3D design tools and electrical design software (e.g., E3).

  • Advanced PLC programming skills (Danfoss Plus+1 preferred).
