Senior Manager, Market Area Procurement

Purpose of the position

The Senior Manager, Market Area Procurement will lead a global sourcing team to develop and execute regional sourcing strategies for direct and indirect categories. The role focuses on optimizing procurement processes, driving cost savings, mitigating risks, and fostering sustainability while supporting factories and front-line operations globally.

Key responsibilities include collaborating with global and regional teams to align strategies, enhance supplier relationships, and deliver solutions that support service and sales growth. This position emphasizes building a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and business impact while ensuring the team is equipped to execute strategies effectively.

Main tasks and responsibilities

Leadership

  • Responsible for all aspects of people and team leadership: setting expectations, coaching, providing vision, encouraging participation in decision-making, developing competence, and offering constructive feedback in a timely manner.
  • Drive Kalmar’s implementation of end-to-end process improvements supporting indirect procurement in cooperation with other sourcing teams and related functions.
  • Set the tone, motivation, common purpose, and specific expectations for the cross-functional team to ensure success in achieving business goals.
  • Deploy resources wisely, promptly, and creatively.
  • Review LEAD, Compass, and other feedback to develop a leadership style that continuously improves team performance.

Influencer & Relationship Manager

  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders at all levels to ensure impactful category strategy and savings action implementation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization, including Finance, Legal, Sales & Service, and other relevant departments.
  • Communicate sourcing strategies, plans, and results effectively to stakeholders, ensuring alignment and buy-in.
  • Proactively identify and address stakeholder needs and concerns, ensuring compliance while supporting business growth and flexibility.

Process Improvement & Innovation

  • Ensure best practices are shared across countries and regions.
  • Develop and manage procurement metrics and KPIs, creating dashboards to track sourcing performance at the country, regional, and global levels.
  • Drive improvements in the source-to-pay process, including requisitioning, purchasing, invoicing, and payment, to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with sourcing digitalisation and IM teams to develop, implement, and utilize new and existing sourcing tools and technologies to simplify processes and drive efficiency.
  • Work with finance controlling to develop and maintain the indirect sourcing handbook, promoting transparency and alignment on reporting practices that deliver measurable impact.

What you’ll need to succeed

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Finance, or Engineering; MBA preferred.

Experience

  • At least 8 years of leadership experience in Procurement and Strategic Sourcing.
  • Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing sourcing teams.
  • Experience managing complex sourcing projects and driving process improvement initiatives.
  • Sourcing experience in a global, multi-site, and cross-functional environment.
  • Management experience in a large multinational company with a matrix organizational structure.
  • Experience in budget and business plan development and implementation.
  • Extensive experience working with global teams and executing significant transformational change projects.

  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
