Senior Manager, Market Area Procurement

Purpose of the position

The Senior Manager, Market Area Procurement will lead a global sourcing team focused exclusively on indirect procurement categories across Kalmar’s market areas and plants. This role is responsible for benchmarking and implementing cost-saving solutions from other countries where Kalmar operates, ensuring best practices are shared and adopted.

The role emphasizes leadership, strategic execution, and business impact, ensuring that the team drives cost savings, mitigates risks, and executes global and regional sourcing strategies effectively. A key part of this role is ensuring the team remains closely connected to the countries and stakeholders, supporting indirect procurement excellence while collaborating with global and regional teams to align strategies and optimize supplier relationships.

Main tasks and responsibilities

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Strategy
  • Lead and develop the Market Area & Plant Sourcing Team (up to 9 reports).
  • Ensure execution of global and regional sourcing strategies for indirect procurement.
  • Foster a collaborative and performance-driven culture, ensuring strong connections with stakeholders across regions.
  • Provide coaching, vision, and direction, driving team engagement and capability development.
     

Indirect Procurement & Cost Optimization

  • Responsible for indirect procurement categories, ensuring cost savings, risk mitigation, and compliance.
  • Benchmark and implement savings solutions from Kalmar’s global sites, leveraging best practices.
  • Develop and execute procurement strategies that drive efficiency and financial impact.
  • Strengthen sourcing profile and visibility across key European markets.
     

Stakeholder Engagement & Finance Collaboration

  • Work closely with Finance, Sales & Service, and Operations to align sourcing strategies with business needs.
  • Support the rollout of new procurement processes, ensuring alignment with excellence initiatives.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, ensuring effective communication and buy-in from key stakeholders.

Process Improvement & Digitalization

  • Ensure best practices are shared across countries and drive process optimization.
  • Develop and track procurement KPIs and dashboards to measure sourcing performance.
  • Work with finance controlling to maintain an Indirect Sourcing Handbook, improving cost transparency.
  • Support digitalization initiatives to enhance procurement efficiency and reporting.
     

What you’ll need to succeed

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Finance, Engineering, or a related field (MBA preferred).

Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years of leadership experience in Procurement and Strategic Sourcing, focusing on indirect procurement.

  • Proven track record in benchmarking and implementing cost-saving strategies across multiple countries.

  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and leading large-scale sourcing initiatives in a global, multi-site environment.

  • Strong background in finance collaboration, risk management, and procurement process optimization.

  • Experience in stakeholder engagement at executive levels and raising procurement’s visibility within large organizations.

  • Management experience in a multinational, matrix-structured organization.
