As a Senior Software Engineer, Product Division Solutions, you will join the Kalmar Digital Solutions team in Kalmar’s Strategy, Sustainability and Technology function. Kalmar Digital Solutions is a cross-functional team dedicated to researching new technologies and building tailor-made digital products from AI and simulations to the Kalmar Cloud and IoT Data platforms. We act as an innovation hub, developing cutting-edge solutions and educating the broader Kalmar organization on future technological possibilities.

As a key member of an expert software team, you will help build solutions ranging from machine data ingestion to cloud and desktop applications. You will play a pivotal role in shaping how control system software is flashed, configured, and managed on Kalmar machines. This involves engineering tools that interface directly with vehicle control systems to perform diagnostics, local and Over-the-Air software installations, and parameter configurations. Operating as a technical leader, architect, and mentor within the team, you will drive these major technical initiatives independently.

In this role you will report to the Senior Manager, Product Division Solutions and the location is Tampere, Finland.

What are your key responsibilities:

  • Feature Ownership: Design, implement, and take ownership of features for existing and greenfield software solutions across Kalmar product divisions.

  • Agentic AI Solutions: Develop and scale AI agent-powered digital services, and establish Agentic AI tooling setups for the innovation hub.

  • Technical Liaison: Act as the primary technical Point of Contact toward internal product divisions and external partners.

  • Expert Troubleshooting: Serve as a technical expert to investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve critical software failures alongside relevant task forces.

  • Mentorship & Best Practices: Mentor other developers, lead code reviews, introduce process improvement ideas, and share best practices across the team.

What we offer you:

  • Rewards that truly count: We offer meaningful development opportunities through varied assignments, fair and gender-neutral pay, and highly flexible working conditions—including work-life balance and flexible working hours—all within a culture that values your growth and celebrates success.

  • Safety that moves us forward: Build your career with a stable, publicly listed company rooted in safety since the 1940s, ensuring stability and an environment that empowers you to speak and be heard.

  • Purpose that drives change: You'll contribute to solutions that transform global trade, creating environmental and operational innovations. You'll work on highly interesting and meaningful software products with long-term ownership of the solutions, developing state-of-the-art digital technologies that set industry standards and position us as the forerunner.

  • People who move together: You'll collaborate within a strong, supportive, and autonomous team culture that supports continuous growth and learning. You'll build lasting relationships through global expertise, connections, and a commitment to sustainability.

What you bring to the role:

  • Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent knowledge gained through professional experience, and strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Software Engineering Expertise: Several years of professional experience in designing and developing software, with a proven track record of crafting elegant, fit-for-purpose architectures, and a strong software engineering mindset.

  • Programming Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of programming languages such as Go, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, and C/C++.

  • Modern Technical Stack: Hands-on experience with emerging technologies, particularly AI, Agentic AI, and LLMs, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), DevOps/CI/CD, and automated testing (Robot Framework). Strong expertise in cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS or Google Cloud, is considered an advantage.

  • Continuous Learning & Versatility: A natural drive for continuous learning, readiness to help others, and the versatility to work across topics and applications (with appreciation for an understanding of industrial IoT, autonomous vehicles, or cargo handling industries).

  • Collaborative Mindset: Strong problem-solving abilities combined with a natural openness to collaborating, sharing ideas, and working together with team members to see how your work fits into the bigger picture.
