As a Simulation Engineer, you’ll play a key role in developing advanced simulators and XR applications that shape the future of Kalmar’s R&D, training, and product presentation capabilities. Your work will bridge the gap between heavy load handling equipment, control systems, and cutting-edge virtual technologies — helping us design smarter, safer, and more sustainable solutions for the world of cargo handling. Please note that this is a temporary position covering a maternity leave.

 

 

What are your key responsibilities:

 

  • Simulation Development: Build, maintain, and enhance simulators and XR applications supporting R&D, training, and product presentations.

  • Model Creation & Analysis: Develop simulation models and perform analyses for a wide range of research projects, including multi-body dynamics, energy systems, and sensor modeling.

  • Tool Integration: Utilize Unity, MATLAB/Simulink, and C# programming as core tools for developing robust and reliable simulations.

  • Collaboration Across Teams: Work closely with various internal customers across Kalmar divisions and functions, translating technical and operational needs into fit-for-purpose solutions.

  • Innovation & Quality: Ensure high-quality, accurate, and dependable simulations that contribute to product excellence and innovation.

What you bring to the role:

  • Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, or Software Engineering, or in the final years of your studies. Basic understanding of mechanics, drivelines, and machine control systems. Experience or familiarity with Unity and C# programming, and working knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink. Proficiency in English to collaborate effectively in an international environment. 

  • Technical Expertise: You bring a strong engineering foundation with an interest in simulation and XR technologies. Your work combines analytical thinking, precision, and innovation, ensuring the delivery of reliable and high-quality simulation models. 

  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset: Able to break down complex systems, troubleshoot effectively, and ensure accurate results.

  • Collaborative and adaptable approach: Communicates clearly, works well in cross-functional teams, and learns new tools quickly.
