As a Trades Assistant, you will assist our Lead Mechanics with preventative maintenance, general repair work, and corrective repairs on both diesel-powered and EV mobile equipment. Working both in the workshop and out in the field, you will play a vital role in ensuring work is completed within acceptable time frames and to the highest quality, maintaining a safe environment and exceptional customer satisfaction.

What are your key responsibilities:

  • Equipment Maintenance & Repair: Assist with performing general machine maintenance, including oil and filter changes, assembly and disassembly, and final operations testing on mobile equipment.
  • Fault Finding & Troubleshooting: Support the team with electrical and mechanical fault finding, warranty repairs, and PM servicing in compliance with schedules and checklists.
  • Workspace Management: Take responsibility for machine cleaning and exterior detailing, while maintaining a safe, 5S clean and tidy work organization.
  • Service Preparation & Administration: Prepare thoroughly for service jobs by organizing service history, parts, and customer details, and accurately complete daily service reports and documentation.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all work complies with company HSE regulations, achieving zero accidents through the active completion of Take 5s and vehicle inspections.

What you bring to the role:

  • Qualifications & Licenses: Minimum completion of Year 10 (preferred), alongside High Risk Work Licenses including a Forklift Operator's License and an Elevated Work Platform License.
  • Technical Aptitude: Proven mechanical aptitude with a foundational knowledge of hydraulics, electronics, drivetrains, diesel engines, and EV systems.
  • Proactive Attitude: An excellent work ethic with the ability to work independently on minor works (such as cleaning and parts stock) and a willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Safety & Organization: A highly safety-oriented mindset with experience performing equipment maintenance, warehouse duties, and cleaning.
  • Customer Focus & Teamwork: Sound communication and interpersonal skills, allowing you to effectively represent the company, build profitable customer relationships, and act as a reliable team player.
