As our Trainee, Strategy, you'll immediately become a valued part of the global Kalmar Strategy team at our HQ in Helsinki. In this role, you’ll contribute to the core of our strategic planning and deployment, gaining hands-on experience in corporate analysis, management reporting, and high-stakes presentation development within an international business environment.

 

The trainee period typically runs from mid-April to the end of August, with a possible opportunity for extension depending on business needs and performance.

What are your key responsibilities:

 

  • Metric Tracking & Reporting: Execute the day-to-day tracking of strategy metrics, ensuring accuracy in our global reporting processes.
  • Strategic Analysis: Support ongoing work and deep-dive projects, including scenarios, foresight research, and dashboard development to drive data-led decision-making.
  • Management Presentations: Prepare high-quality presentations and materials for senior management, translating complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Collaborate & Support: Work as an integral part of the team on ad-hoc projects, proactively sharing your findings and contributing to the overall strategy deployment.

What you bring to the role:

 

  • Educational Background: You are currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, or a related field, and are eager to apply your academic theories to global corporate strategy.
  • Early Experience & Curiosity: Previous experience in strategy or finance - whether in a corporate function or consulting - is a significant advantage. Relevant knowledge of the logistics, ports, or heavy industry sectors is a plus.
  • Technical & Analytical Competencies: You possess strong analytical skills and proficiency in Google Tools (Drive, Sheets, Slides) and MS Office. Experience with HFM, QlikSense, Salesforce, or Reuters Eikon is considered a benefit.
  • Proactive Mindset: You bring a positive, can-do attitude and are enthusiastic about developing your skills in a fast-paced, high-visibility team.
  • Strong Communication: You are fluent in written and spoken English and enjoy working collaboratively in a team-oriented, international environment.
